Contrast MRA COW.
Just came from an MRI convention by Bill Faulkner according to him CE MRA COW is a very Diagnostic exam, no undesireble veins! I thought the same but it appears this exam has proven to be valuable in the diagnosis of oclusions, stenosis and aneurysms. I do not have a protocol, but am working to build one. I will post suggestions once I got something that works. Bill did mention it must be a dynamic scan quick enough to show arterial flow and then venous, so no more than 10 seconds per scan. Very few centers and hospitals offer this protocol but its in the works.

Plz Answer this ... Contrast MRI of Brain
Pre and Post contrast mri of the brain was performed in multiple planes using T1 & T2 W spin-echo sequence.

There is small ring enhancing lesion in the left occipitoparietal lobe which measures 1cm in diameter. It reveals isointense periphery on T1 & T2W images with hyperintense core on T2W images. On T1W images the core appears hypointense . A tiny mural nodule is seen within the lesion. focal perilesional edema is seen appearing hyperintense on FLAIR and T2W images.

The brainstem & cerebellum are normal.
The ventricular system is normal.
No abnormal meningeal enhancement is seen.
Intracranial vessels display normal flow void.

What needs to be done?? How serious the problem is??

T1 FAT SAT PRE AND POS GADO
The contrast agent causes this difference. Contrast agents reduce the T1 time in tissues where they have accumulated depending on blood flow and vascular permeability. Caused by this, tissues after an application of contrast agents will differ in shortening of the T1 time, and the same imaging parameters result in other image appearance.

Hello to all my fellow MR Technologists and / or students:
I have a few questions that I would greatly appreciate if someone could help me answer. The dead line is THIS Friday 25th 1000AM morning so please reply STAT
Please e mail me at USMARINE2TIM2@YAHOO.COM
1. . Breath hold duration of less than _________are
recommended when dealing with MR Arenal artery
scan?
a. 30sec
b. 25sec
c. 18sec
d. 8

2. . In renal angiography, what anatomical
landmark does the 3d slab need to cover just
anterior to?
a. Adrenal glands
b. Hepatic vein
c. Portal vein
d. Abdominal aorta

3. .What makes MRI a better choice than DSA for evaluation of a bilateral renal artery stenoses at the orgins of the renal arteries?
a. It is a noisier examination
b. The contrast used is less nephrotoxic than DSA
contrast
c. MRI has higher special resolution than DSA

4. Signal loss will result when further maturation of the clot produces which one of the following?
a. methemoglobin
b. hemosiderin
c. phagocytosis.
d. hemoglobin

5. .For cine gradient echo imaging with true FISP, which of the following statements is TRUE?
a. .images have better image contrast and acquisitions are faster than conventional cine gradient echo imaging
b. cine true FISP images can be performed on any MRI unit
c. to make true FISD images, intravenous gadolinium contrast is needed
d. .true FISP images cannot be used for breath- hold acquisitions because the sequence is too slow

6. Which one of the following statements is NOT

true about phase contrast imaging?
a. .phase contrast imaging is useful for measuring blood flow
b. .phase contrast images are ECG gated
c. .phase contrast images can be performed on most
scanners with cardiac imaging capabilities

intravenous gadolinium contrast
Thank you so much

Contrast MRA COW.
Hi,
seems crazy, you should have many undesirable veins! We run a 3D TOF MRA of the circle of willis without contrast with best results (1.5T and 3T).
Contrast enhanced 3D MRA of the carotids are done with machine injection (never with a butterfly!), automated bolus detection and a flow of 3ml/sec and 25 ml Gad. If no bolus detection program is available, look for the delay with a test bolus of 2ml. With a high resolution scan, both carotids and circle of willis are assessable. The use of a set like Smartset for the injection is helpful if no power injector is available.
