IMRIS® is a Canadian manufacturer of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Systems for use in neurosurgical operating rooms. The 1.5T intra-operative system, developed by IMRIS, is the only system of its kind in the world. This patented, intra-operative system, is designed so that the magnet moves over the patient for imaging (before, during and after surgery), and then is retracted to allow complete surgical access to the patient.

1.5T:

A saddle coil has a cylindrical body, with one or more turns of wire (older versions) or foil (newer versions) on each side. It generates a very homogenous field in the direction of its long axis. To achieve a higher B₁ homogeneity there are different developments like Folded Litz-foil Saddle Coils or Etched Litz-foil Saddle Coils.

(T/R) Also called transceiver coil. An RF coil that acts as a transmitter (T) producing the B1 excitation field and as a receiver (R) of the MRI signal. Such a coil requires a T/R switching circuit to switch between the two modes. A body coil is typically a T/R coil, but smaller volume T/R coils (head/extremities) are often used at high field as a possibility of reducing RF power absorption (SAR).

The coil of the RF transmitter, inside the MR imager is used in excitation of the spins. Also called transmit-only coil it is used to create the B1 field. As a radio frequency generator send this coil bursts of RF pulses. These pulses serve to disturb the spins in the patient.

(X') Dimension in the rotating frame of reference in the plane at right angles to the direction of the static magnetic field (B0 or H0), z; commonly defined to be in the direction of the magnetic vector of the exciting RF field (B1).
