GE LX MRI Platform?
I'm working to gain an understanding of MRI equipment, specifically GE equipment, and I'm kind of confused by some of the terms that I see associated with the scanners when they are being listed for sale. Can anybody give me a quick idea about what is being talked about when they are referring to the "LX Platform" on a GE MRI scanner? I think it might have some relationship to phased array channels, but I'm not sure. I have also seen references to the "5X Platform" and the "Excite Platform", are these mutually exclusive to the LX platform (updated/prior models?) Thanks in advance to anyone with some GE experience who can help out.

Perfusion analysis
Hey Pooja,
I'm a Radiologist and interested in MR perfusion imaging of liver, pancreas, prostate and other abdominal organs. Please could you suggest any good software which can be used for this purpose. I know few but exact model used for analysis is not well discribed in those.
I appreciate ur valuable input on this.
Thanks
Nagaraj

Neil,

I think you're talking about the edges of the shimmed volume of the magnet, or the coil.

Magnets are shimmed to a specific volume in the field (every model magnet is different). When you attempt to scan an object that reaches the edge of this volume you will see distortion from imaging the unshimmed area of the magnet.

Also shimming large objects that exceed the range of the receiver portion of the coil will cause distortions.

Hopefully this answers your question?

Good Luck,
Dan McGuan
