John, anyone can receive MR training. Since you are a nuc med technologist registered with the ARRT you can sit for the boards for MRI as long as you have your required comps. However, you cannot substitute your Nuc med for RT. It is an advantage to have your RT before acquiring your MRI though it does not usually pay you more money. Most hospitals will not hire anyone that is not ARRT certified in radiology first and the reason is because of the contrast injections. Gadolinium as you know is considered a medication and patients with compromised renal function can have reactions that include death, not to mention the allergic reactions (rare) but do occur. I would suggest to get the OJT training and sit for your MRI boards. Being a NM tech gives you an advantage because you are already ARRT registered. Good luck to you.

ARMRIT is not misleading people. First and foremost,Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota, states where i work near, accept ARMRIT technologists as does medicare for reimbursments. I have been a ARMRIT registered tech for 6 years and have been gainfully employed in the career field. I currently work at a hospital as the lead MRI technologist, training ARRT techs. what training does a RT recieve when they go through xray school?? a few days in the MRI suite watching MRI exams, period. How does that qualify or not qualify someone?? I also take offense to the statement that you have to be ARRT certified to give gadolinium, WRONG. Everyone at my faciility has to be approved by the Radiologist in charge. I work in both Michigan and Wisconsin as a MRI tech and have never had a problem with having to be ARRT certified.

I am not aware of any exposure limitations to the MR healthcare worker. There is always a concern for pregnant women since the cells are dividing constantly. I think we just take extra precautions.
I would be interested to know if you, in France, are dealing with this new NSF (Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis) problem pertaining Gadolinium.

I have same trouble with counting T1 of the gadolinium solution.
f.ex.
There are six fantom with gadolinium solution in 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 mmol/l. Fantoms scanned with pulse sequences SE with TR equal 50, 100, 200, 300, 400 ... 4000 ms. For each fantom calculated T1 by iteractive minimizing technique the equation: S(TR)=M0*(1-exp(-TR/T1))
At the result, I have six T1: 72, 170, 255, 403, 725, 1474 ms.
How can I calculate T1 and R1 of the pure solution of contrast media?
