Head Coil
I have a colleague who wants to use our 3T for an fMRI experiment and is looking for a good head coil for this. Any good suggestions?
Thanks

3T imaging parameters
At 3T the T1 time is longer (so the TR should also be longer) and the T2 time is shorter (TE can be shorter). However, when we got a 3T machine we tested different TR and TE's and found out that in practice the useful range don't has a big difference from that of a 1.5T MR system.
The contrast looks a bit different - that's normal.
In addition, ask the manufacturer.
There are a lot of other parameters that affect the contrast in 3T.

Hope this will help

Protection Against Noise
In the future, we will scan also newborn children at our 3T machine. I see a problem in the loudness of the MRI system because I know that babies are more sensitive to noise. Adults get earplugs and headphones and there is no problem. The headphones will not fit and I am worried about the noise pollution. Has anybody a good idea?

Contrast MRA COW.
Hi,
seems crazy, you should have many undesirable veins! We run a 3D TOF MRA of the circle of willis without contrast with best results (1.5T and 3T).
Contrast enhanced 3D MRA of the carotids are done with machine injection (never with a butterfly!), automated bolus detection and a flow of 3ml/sec and 25 ml Gad. If no bolus detection program is available, look for the delay with a test bolus of 2ml. With a high resolution scan, both carotids and circle of willis are assessable. The use of a set like Smartset for the injection is helpful if no power injector is available.

3T Pulsoxymeter
Hi Lynn,
we use the pulse oximeter Nonin 8600 for our 1.5 T scanner as well as for the 3T system. I'm not sure whether it is tested for 3 T. At the 3 T system, we run the cable through filter boxes in the shielded scanner room, so there is no safety problem and we do not have artifacts.
It works well also for children.
