MasSim: the mass spectrometer simulator Open this link in a new window
MasSim simulates the functioning of a real mass spectrometer.Ideal for education and research. Three modes are provided, browser, student, and instructor. In browser mode, spectra may be browsed, manipulated, annotated, and printed. In instructor mode, spectra can be prepared for students use, including addition of simulated molecular ion peaks and renaming (to disguise chemical names). Full password protection is provided for instructor and student modes. Students may access those spectra prepared by the instructor. Features include the ability to paste bitmaps and text onto the spectra, insertion of labels (m/z, intensity, or both) added automatically by setting of an intensity threshold and calculation and optional labeling of peak differences. Also included is an isotope calculator and an interface which allows importing spectra from the NIST/EPA Mass Spectral Database (demo version included). Includes a database of 1000 sample spectra. Spectra may also be manually entered using a spectral creation wizard.

Calculation of B1 fields in MRI Coils by the Method of Moments Open this link in a new window
Integral equation formulation for calculating the B1 fields of a MRI coil without and with a simulated body load have been used. Results for a single element agree with earlier results from FDTD calculations.

Atomic Absorption, Emission and Fluorescence Techniques Open this link in a new window
Atomic spectroscopy is the determination of elemental composition by its electromagnetic or mass spectrum. The study of the electromagnetic spectrum of elements is called Optical Atomic Spectroscopy. While atomic absorption is the most widely applied of the three techniques and usually offers several advantages over the other two, particular benefits may be gained with either emission or fluorescence in special analytical situations.
