Sensitive Point

The sensitive point in an object (or a region) is the point from which information is being measured, as in sequential point imaging or in single voxel MR spectroscopy sequential point imaging used. To define a sensitive point, it must be selected in three dimensions. Different combinations of selective excitation, inversion, or saturation pulses can be used. Sometimes, combinations of two or more measurements are necessary to define the sensitive point (or volume).

NAME
Slice overlap
DESCRIPTION
Loss of signal
REASON
HELP
Overlapping prevention
The slice overlap artifact is another name for crosstalk artifact. If slices of multislice acquisitions are overlapping, the spinning nuclei belonging to more than one slice getting multiple times saturated, which leads to signal loss in this areas.
mri safety guidance
Image Guidance
This problem occurs often in cervical or lumbar spine MRI, when scanning each disc with multi angle oblique technique. If prevention of overlapping is not possible, try to position the saturated region posterior to the spinal canal, outside the region of interest.

(SPAIR) The MRI fat suppression technique SPAIR is characterized by a low sensitivity to RF field inhomogeneities. The used adiabatic radio frequency pulses for spectral saturation ensure a high uniformity and lower specific absorption rate (SAR).
SPAIR is suitable for offset and difficult to suppress regions such as liver, pelvis, shoulder and hips.

Spoiled Gradient Echo SequenceInfoSheet: - Sequences -

Spoiled gradient echo sequences use a spoiler gradient on the slice select axis during the end module to destroy any remaining transverse magnetization after the readout gradient, which is the case for short repetition times.
As a result, only z-magnetization remains during a subsequent excitation. This types of sequences use semi-random changes in the phase of radio frequency pulses to produce a spatially independent phase shift.
Companies use different acronyms to describe certain techniques.

Different terms for these gradient echo pulse sequences:
CE-FFE-T1 Contrast Enhanced Fast Field Echo with T1 Weighting,
GFE Gradient Field Echo,
FLASH Fast Low Angle Shot,
PS Partial Saturation,
RF spoiled FAST RF Spoiled Fourier Acquired Steady State Technique,
RSSARGE Radio Frequency Spoiled Steady State Acquisition Rewound Gradient Echo
S-GRE Spoiled Gradient Echo,
SHORT Short Repetition Techniques,
SPGR Spoiled Gradient Recalled (spoiled GRASS),
STAGE T1W T1 weighted Small Tip Angle Gradient Echo,
T1-FAST T1 weighted Fourier Acquired Steady State Technique,
T1-FFE T1 weighted Fast Field Echo.
In this context, 'contrast enhanced' refers to the pulse sequence, it does not mean enhancement with a contrast agent.

Tilt Optimized Nonsaturated Excitation

(TONE) Used to decrease the saturation effect of inflowing blood in 3D MRA scans, the flip angle varies linearly over the excited chunk. In multi chunk scans TONE decreases the Venetian blind artifact or allows thicker chunks to cover a larger anatomical region.
