Nuclear Overhauser Effect

(NOE) A change in the steady state magnetization of a particular nucleus due to irradiation of a neighboring nucleus with, which it is coupled by means of a spin spin coupling interaction. This interaction must be the primary relaxation mechanism of these nuclei. Such an effect can occur during decoupling and must be taken into account for accurate intensity determinations during such procedures.

Inductance

Measure of the magnetic coupling between two current carrying loops (mutual) reflecting their spatial relationship or of a loop(such as a coil) with itself (self). One of the principal determinants of the resonance frequency of a RF circuit.

Multiplet

A pattern of multiple resonance's (spectral lines) observed when the initially single Larmor frequency of a given nucleus in a spin system is split by interactions with neighboring spins through the scalar or spin spin interaction. The magnitude of this interaction is independent of the applied magnetic field and is referred to as J, the spin spin coupling constant. The specific pattern produced depends on the number of coupled nuclei and their spin quantum numbers.
