Ampere
 
(A or amp) The SI base unit of electric current.
Definition: Two parallel conductors, infinitely long and having negligible cross section, should be placed 1 meter apart in a perfect vacuum. One ampere is the current that creates between them a force of 0.2 micronewton per meter of length.
One ampere represents a current flow of 1 coulomb of charge per second.
One ampere of current results from a potential distribution of 1 volt per ohm of resistance, or from a power production rate of 1 watt per volt of potential.
The unit is known informally as the amp, but A is its official symbol and is named for the French physicist André-Marie Ampère.

[B0] A conventional symbol for the main magnetic field strength (magnetic flux density or induction) in a MRI system. Although historically used, H0 (units of magnetic field strength, ampere//meter) should be distinguished from the more appropriate B0 [units of magnetic induction, tesla].
In current MR systems it has a constant value over time varying from 0.02 to 4 T. Field strengths of 0.5 T and above are generated with superconductive magnets. High field strengths have a better signal to noise ratio (SNR). The optimal imaging field strength for clinical imaging is between 0.5 and 2.0 T.

Eovist® (other brand name Primovist™) is a organ specific MRI contrast agent for the imaging, detection and characterization of liver conditions, including liver tumors, cysts, as well as other malignant and benign lesions. It is a water-soluble ethoxybenzyl derivative of Gd-DTPA. This compound is taken up by the hepatocytes (approximately 30% of the dose goes to the hepatocytes) and is equally excreted renal and biliary in humans. Excretion of Gd-EOB-DTPA in the bile may also permit visualization of both the gall bladder and the bile ducts.
Eovist® brightens the signal of T1 weighted MR images immediately after contrast administration. Dynamic and accumulation phase imaging can also be performed after bolus injection of Eovist®. The hepatocytes uptake will increase the signal intensity of normal liver parenchyma at 10 to 20 minutes after injection. This results in improved lesion-to-liver contrast because malignant tumors (metastases, the majority of hepatocellular carcinomas) do not contain either hepatocytes or their functioning is hampered.

WARNING: Gadolinium-based contrast agents increase the risk for nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) in patients with acute or chronic severe renal insufficiency (glomerular filtration rate less than 30 mL/min/1.73m2), or acute renal insufficiency of any severity due to the hepato-renal syndrome or in the perioperative liver transplantation period.

(B) Also called magnetic flux density with the SI unit tesla (T) usually denoted by the symbol B. The magnetic induction is the net magnetic effect from an externally applied magnetic field and the resulting magnetization.
The symbol H was used for the magnetic field (measured in amperes per meter (A/m)). However, this distinction is often ignored, and both quantities are often referred to as the magnetic field.
B is proportional to H (B = μH).
