Gadolinium relaxation times are too short for T2 weighted imaging, so T2 weighted is not tipically performed after contrast (unless used as a delay to give contrast time to peak before T1 FS is obtained).
Also I have never worked at any facility that uses T2 fat sat imaging on the brain. Not a whole lot of fat in the brain region!
FLAIR imaging is the norm...but I could stand corrected.

A coronal STIR or T2 weighted sequence with fat suppression is useful to show an opticus neuritis.

Some experiments with superparamagnetic contrast agents such as Feridex/Endorem with labeled cells showed a black appearance on T2 weighted sequences, which was easy to see. The less dominant T1 effect, bright on T1 weighted images was more subtle. Hi,
you can take a strong T2 weighted MRCP or similar sequence with smaller FOV. For an overview one thick slice in sagittal or transversal direction and for more details a 3D sequence with thin slices and higher matrix. For better visualization a sour (lemon) juice can be given before the examination.
