i BELIEVE PREFERED FLUID TO BE GIVEN TO PATIENT PRIOR TO MRCP IS PINEAPPLE OR BLUEBERRY JUICE IF YOUR FACILITY DOESNT HAVE GASTROMARK . IT ALLOWS THE GB TO SHOW UP DARK, YOU MAY HAVE MOTION FROM FLUID IN ABD.

DO NOT give ANYTHING by mouth to a patient getting an MRCP. The patient should br NPO a minimum of 4 hours prior to the exam. ____________ IV fluids -- There is no pro or con to IV fluids per radiologists at my site since they introduce nothing into the digestive tract.

For a better result of MRCP, a patient should be NPO for abt 6 hours. Then just five minutes before starting the scan, pure pineapple juice(500ml)is given.Magnesium found in pineapple, acts as oral contrast in biliary tract thus gives a sharp and bright clear image. For the sequence breath hold should proper.

Anybody can sympathise with the sufferings of a friend, but it requires a very fine nature to sympathise with a friend's success.
